Welcome to PIPIA, the Patent & Intellectual Property Intermediary Association. 

Our mission is to build market integrity in the market for patents and intellectual property. We achieve this through our global network of professional patent brokers, our online trading exchange, self-regulation, ongoing education programs and the championing of best practices through our members.

We understand that market integrity is built broker-by-broker, transaction-by-transaction.  When clients feel they can trust in the market, the transaction process and the brokers they choose to represent them, we expect to see a further acceleration of number of patent sales and licensing transactions.  Growth in this immature market will also be driven by the establishment of an effective trading exchange connecting brokers, buyers, sellers, licensors and licensees.

One of PIPIA's priorities is to establish trust and confidence in clients.  This involves setting best practices with members aimed at protecting the interests of clients on each side of each transaction.  PIPIA members representing patent buyers or sellers are educated to understand and respect the duties they have toward their client and respect the clients' wishes and confidentialities.

In addition to serving as an industry organization, PIPIA is the primary self regulatory organization involved in the regulation of intermediaries in this market.

Membership of PIPIA is by invitation only. Candidates must demonstrate experience of patent and intellectual property transactions and must have a substantial base of satisfied clients before they are considered eligible for membership.
